Before Cutting Through the Matrix became the platform most people associate with Alan Watt, there was an earlier period when his voice reached an audience through other channels. The first important stage was not a website. It was radio. In the late 1990s, Alan Watt began appearing as a guest on alternative media programs, most notably Sweet Liberty, hosted by Jackie Patru. This period was significant because it introduced many listeners to a side of Alan Watt that would later become less prominent.



The Early Sweet Liberty Years

During the period around 1998–2000, Alan’s appearances focused heavily on subjects connected to occult history, symbolism, esoteric traditions, and hidden structures of power. For many listeners, this was what made him stand out. His presentations were lengthy, detailed, and delivered with a distinctive style. He did not approach these subjects as a casual commentator. new age movements;

The subjects themselves reflected a recurring theme in Alan’s work at the time:
